The extra thick double cream bargains

Who doesn’t love  a bargain buy? With many Brits sharing the love of the boxing day sales to grab a bargain. Yet this year boxing day sales were not the same. With many stores remaining closed until 27 December, we still headed out on the 26, but extended the tradition to two days. While we did get a few bargains, the real bargains were to be had in the reduced produce in the supermarkets.

I popped out for a few essentials at our local supermarket and left with more than a top up shop with bargains ranging from chocolate, biscuits, beer, a peace lilly, storage boxes and of course our extra thick double cream. All the dates were reasonable so no gorging or disposal required and the plant a must as I’ve killed off our current home peaceful dweller through drink – rather appropriate during the Christmas Season.  An expensive shop for a tub of extra thick cream!

It was not until my late 20s that I was introduced to this new delight of extra thick double cream by my mother. From the moment a spoon full was placed on my dessert we were all hooked and now no sweet is complete without it. This is why, it has become a loved loathed item. It is often hard to come by, as often you find an empty shelf or a removed label from the shelf. Therefore, it has often led to a few extra shops as no squirty, single, double or clotted cream can compare. And with shopping opportunities comes bargains. Yet, one thing is for sure: dessert will never be the same again.
