Covid-19

COVID-19 – Introduction

If I were a believer in fate, then in current times I might have given up on being positive. It is inevitable that during a pandemic people will get ill and some, well a lot of people will die. However, I choose to believe that everything happens for a reason, even if that reason is to make humankind more resilient. My positive outlook has climbed aboard a rollercoaster of ups and downs, with no end in sight. My mind is full of questions, contradictions, and fear of the unknown. But in times like these, I doubt I am the only one lost in questions.

Nevertheless, instead of dwelling on the ultimate question, of life, death, and everything. I want to do something positive during this time of staying at home. As a very sociable creature, the idea of reducing social contact to my partner (who I live with) or the people I see at a distance while shopping or on daily exercise, is unbearable in thought, never mind reality – but let’s stop there.

Don’t worry, this is not a blog about rules, the most recent advice, it’s not a 24-hour update on the spread of the virus or advice of any sort. I have never blogged before, so if this is not what you were looking for or expecting, don’t worry I have no idea what I’m doing either. It’s just my experiences, observations and humorous takes on events – if inappropriate at times, I mean no offence. As the sayings go: laughing is the best form of medicine, life is better when you’re laughing, and finally as we’re all feeling isolated – laughter is an instant vacation. And let’s face it I think we all feel deserving of a break!

Just in case you are reading this after the event, I am writing about Covid-19, coronavirus, the pandemic that is sweeping the globe and has taken us all down a different track. You may also notice the delay. It took me a few weeks to get my thoughts in order and get some friends to vet my ramblings.

So, sit back and enjoy my attempt at helping others through this time by ‘singing my own kind of music’.

I should probably start with some introductions. I am a 20-year-old engaged woman living in the North East of England. I wouldn’t describe my life as hectic, but I do, or rather did, like to lead a busy life. It seems every element of my life has had to adapt to the new regime. Take the dog for example, who I like to think enjoyed her two or three outings a day as much as I did, has been reduced to one outing a day. Whereas before I was trying to find time, now I fear being faced with time to fill – or so I thought.
