Covid-19

Covid-19 – Week thirty three: beginning 19/10/2020

Manic Monday arrives, I drag myself up and dress for a jog, I really want to stay in bed. But here I am at the door, door closed, lock the…

Where is my key? Pocket check, bag check, mental retrace of steps, still no key. A phone call later and my key is located miles away, safely stored in the car with my fiancé at work.

So, in an instance, I’m back to my lockdown routine of March. I watch the news on my stepper and entertain the dog with hide and seek before work. Luckily, at lunch my parents drop off their key, otherwise it would have been a long day behind four walls. Thankful for our lucky escape from being stuck in the house, Lady and I enjoy a lovely midday walk in the crunchy autumn leaves. I feel more appreciative of our freedom to explore after a morning of entrapment in the house.

Let’s just say, for the rest of the week I have been more aware of my key’s location and the locked status of our front door. My walks with Lady have felt more mindful, taking in the beauty to see and hear in autumn. And before I know it the weekend is here.

Saturday morning: ‘Woman of the year’ from my Slimming World group. Shocked surprise, but I’m very humbled by the award recognising my weight loss journey and how it is inspiring others. A lovely dog walk and it’s time for an escape into the virtual world of camp @ home 3: the goat’s revenge.

After enjoying the preparations building up over the last few weeks, now it’s time for the real fun to begin. Midday: opening ceremony, with music, dancing and lots of noise. Joined online by my co-host, we perform for over 500 Scouters across Facebook live. I then join in some aural storytelling, speculating what happens next and laugh out loud retelling Billy Goats Gruff in sounds and actions. Then it’s time to run Zendoodling: it’s all about the goat, then I break for a dog walk before tea, a riddle based scavenger hunt, campfire (I will never get used to watching myself recorded) and a quiz followed by a midnight feast to finish off the night.

Blink and its morning. Breakfast bunch get renamed, after failed pancakes (without milk) provide great entertainment, then it’s time for Zendoodling: the next level, where our young people follow my patterns to create their own beautiful Mandalas. And it’s onto some goat yoga. Then it’s time to reflect in preparation for a photo montage in the closing. As the intro plays, I can’t help but sigh, it’s flown over again. And so, another fun filled weekend draws to a close.
