Covid-19 – Week sixty seven: beginning 14/06/2021
This week it’s all go. Monday is here and I have hit the ground running: jog, walk, work, walk, work, dog walk meet up, spinning class, first response training. This blend of in person and virtual meet ups has become a welcomed norm. The virtual world has allowed me to fit more into my day.
Tuesday came and I literally have hit the ground running. On my jog this morning I face plant the floor. However, not unlike the song, I get back up again and with my jogging friend’s encouragement we hit a new personal best. Now if this isn’t a sign that we can get back up when we fall down I don’t know what is.
This lesson stays with me during the week and helps me face the inevitable challenges of home and work life: I’ve chuckled saying, You’re still upright, you’ve not hit the ground running!
And what a busy week it has been full of family, fun and friends. My brother and Sister-in law visited with my niece and nephew. We met for a lovely meal, ordering via an app had its issues: no option to ask for alterations like no sauce on a burger or request tap water. But all in all it was a lovely meal, made better by the company – which is what it was all about. Taking time from the business of life to enjoy time with family.
I also fit in a trip to the cinema. A strange experience on so many levels: for one we haven’t sat and just watched a movie in a long time without some sort of distraction, secondly socially distanced seating made it feel private and romantic. My partner and I felt comfortable stretching out, snuggling up and enjoying the opportunity to be fully absorbed by a movie.
To conclude from my original lesson: hit the ground running, came the real lesson: always take time to sit back and enjoy the experience fully.
