Covid-19

Covid-19 – Week fifty one: beginning 22/02/2021

I wake Monday morning to a downpour. I drag myself out for my jog waterproofed up, not bothering to change before my walk where Lady is waggy tales: at least one of us is embracing the rain. Yet by lunchtime, it’s so sunny I consider sunglasses. It goes to show that everyday can turn around and change from literally rain to shine.

Even my jog had a silver lining. Wet, tired and desperate for the toilet, I kept jogging past MacDonalds rappers littering the streets. Yes, I wanted one. An egg and sausage mcmuffin with cheese. So that’s what I had: only my healthier version with a wholemeal bagel, low fat sausages and 50% less fat cheese – what a way to start Monday on a delicious high.

Even the news seems more positive this week, announcing a roadmap to the opening up of society, bringing hope to us all that life will start to return to normal – whatever this new normal might look like. But it will be starting in the coming weeks with the schools going back – which I am certain young people and adults alike are looking forward to. Who would have ever thought young people would be unanimously looking forward to school? I always remember, from my school days, wishing for the next holiday.

While we have all been guilty of wishing for the weekend? When Friday arrives, I have but one question – where did the week go? Time is still flying for me, days are blurring into one ball of comings and goings. I wouldn’t want to be bored though and this week had so much good going on.  Highlights from my week include the amazing video cake reveal of my friend’s baby, I can’t stop grinning with excitement – It’s a girl! My parents received their first vaccine, spreading the feeling of hope that we are moving closer to returning to normal. The week ended by attending a virtual birthday bash. It was one of the best parties ever. Hosted over zoom, we raced in two teams to solve puzzles in the escape room and then enjoyed catching up afterwards.
